In windows 10, the file association (designation as to what program opens what kind of file) for Images frequently gets set to Microsoft Image Viewer. Unfortunaly this program often does not work or is very slow. Most people would like Images to open in another program. We highly recommend Irfanview, A program that has been around for a very long time, is small, stable, and very fast. To reset this follow these instructions:

  1. Find an Image of the type you want to reset (jpeg, jpg, bmp, gif) that is saved on your desktop, documents, or downloads folder
  2. Right Click the image
  3. Choose Properties
  4. In the window that appears, click the "Change" button
  5. Choose the program you want to open all images of this type (Irfanview is recommended.)
  6. Click "OK"

Now when you double click an image of that type, it will open in the program you choose.
