SMTP (Outgoing Server)

To send mail SMTP must be configured.
It is important that the "Server Requires Authentication" property be set to true. Sending mail will fail if it is not.

Server Name mail.CyVon.com
Server Requires Authentication YES
User Name <My Username>@<Your Domain Name Here>
Password <My Password>
Encryption and Port TLS/(25 or 587) SSL/465 None/(25 or 587)

Troubleshooting Outbound Email

  • "Connection failed" or "Server Timed Out"

This error means the connection to the CyVon server is being Blocked. This is due to some Internet Service Providers (such as ComCast and SBC) blocking port 25 at their firewall.

To fix this, set your outbound port to 587 instead of 25

  • I can only send email to people at my own company

This is due to your device/software not using authentication on the outbound connection. This is most common on Apple branded devices due to it stating that outbound username and password are optional. Apple means "may or may not be required" not optional. It is required and must be set. Please refer to the device specific page to help correct this [[Public:Email_Server_Info#Configuration_for_Specific_Devices_.2F_Software|]]

IMAP (Recommended Incoming Server)

To receive mail either IMAP or POP3 must be configured. IMAP stores all your received e-mail on the CyVon Inc. Server.
This is the recommended option and allows email and saved folders to be used across multiple clients/devices AND the webmail system.

Server Name mail.CyVon.com
User Name <My Username>@<Your Domain Name Here>
Password <My Password>
Encryption and Port TLS/143 SSL/993 None/143

POP3 (Incoming Server)

To receive mail either IMAP or POP3 must be configured. POP3 stores all your received email on YOUR COMPUTER ONLY! With POP3, recieved E-mail will be accessible only on your local computer/device. If used with multiple devices, only the first device to receive that email will show it.

Server Name mail.CyVon.com
User Name <My Username>@<Your Domain Name Here>
Password <My Password>
Encryption and Port TLS/110 SSL/995 None/110
